Assemblyman Steve Hawley (R,C,I-Batavia), Sen. Joe Robach (R-Greece) and Sen. Robert Ortt (R-North Tonawanda) recently wrote to New York State Department of Transportation (DOT) Commissioner Matthew Driscoll asking for a return to transportation funding parity between their region and other areas of the state. The legislators also called on Driscoll to adopt a capital plan that more accurately represents the infrastructure needs of Western New York and more specificity about the amount of funding being allocated to the region.

“We strongly urge the DOT to adopt a plan that represents the transportation inventory of the region,” the legislators wrote. “The Lake Ontario State Parkway (LOSP), canal bridges and others are in critical need of work. I strongly urge you to work with local representatives to ensure the prior work schedule is completed as soon as possible. Advancing current projects and ensuring fair, reliable future funding is critical to the economy and public safety of the region.”
